Resource Center Habitat.

Understanding our tools, methods, and levers for action in your region.

Our Scientific Tools.

Habitat stands out for its use and development of intelligent tools and cutting-edge methods to promote the implementation of natural solutions.

Habitat ecological connectivity to identify and preserve corridors that promote biodiversity.
Our tool Connect2. analyzes species movements and key habitats to prioritize areas for conservation and create interconnected habitat networks.

Habitat functional diversity to assess the resilience and vulnerability of forests to biotic and abiotic threats. Thanks to ForestR, we identify vulnerabilities and define planting strategies to strengthen long-term resilience.

UrbanForestR. applies the ForestR approach to the urban canopy. The tool analyzes biological composition, functional diversity, and vulnerabilities in order to define planting strategies that strengthen the long-term resilience of urban forests.

Our Maps.

We develop interactive maps to highlight the results of studies carried out in your area.

Identification map of agricultural corridors in Quebec

On this interactive map, we identify agricultural gullies throughout Quebec's agricultural territory. You can see various information about these coulées, such as the area of vegetation, the proportion of clay in the soil, and the average pH of the soil.

Management of Natural Infrastructure

On this interactive mapping platform, Habitat the David Suzuki Foundation present the results of in-depth analyses of urban natural infrastructure conducted in five major Canadian cities: Quebec City, Gatineau, Ottawa, Saskatoon, and Vancouver. The maps allow users to visualize natural assets (trees, canopy, green spaces) and the ecosystem services they provide, particularly in terms of climate resilience, air quality, and temperature regulation.

To view the interactive maps and learn more about the initiative, visit the project page.
