How and why we collect personal information 

In most cases, we collect personal information directly from you. We also collect personal information automatically on our website, as described in the "Cookies" section.

Habitat does not use or disclose your personal information without your consent. However, in certain circumstances, we may be required to disclose your personal information, without your consent, to respond to a legal obligation or to enforce our rights.   

We may also share your personal information with our suppliers to ensure continuity of services and security of our platform (e.g. Monday, Quickbooks and the Microsoft 365 suite). In this case, we ensure that third parties respect the confidentiality of your personal information, do not use it for purposes other than those for which it was communicated to them and manage it in accordance with the applicable legal framework in this area

Security and retention of your personal information  

Habitat has implemented administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the personal information we collect from you from unauthorized access, use or disclosure, as well as loss. We have also taken steps to ensure that only those employees who have a need to know or whose duties reasonably require such information have access to it.  

We store your personal information in a secure environment. In general, this information is processed and hosted in Quebec. However, in the event that it is communicated or hosted outside of Quebec, notably through our service providers, we ensure that your personal information is adequately protected. 

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, except where the law provides for a different retention period to meet legal requirements.  

Once it is no longer required, your personal information is securely destroyed or anonymized, in accordance with the laws applicable in Quebec and the policy we have put in place.  

Rights regarding your personal information 

You have a number of rights with respect to your personal information, in particular you have the right to :  

• Request access to and a copy of your personal information, or ask for it to be rectified (right of access and rectification);  

• Request that we stop using or communicating your personal information to third parties (withdrawal of consent);  

• Request the transfer of certain personal information to another party (right to portability);  

• Request that we stop disseminating your personal information or that we de-index any hyperlink attached to your name on our website (right to de-index);

Habitat recognizes the importance of protecting your personal information. Should you wish to make a complaint about our protection of your personal information, you may do so by contacting our Privacy Officer, in writing, at the address indicated in the "Contact Us" section below. 

Your complaint will be reviewed by our Privacy Officer, who will determine whether the processing of your personal information complies with our Privacy Policy and any applicable laws.
