Habitat serving nature and the regions.

Since 2017, Habitat organizations understand, promote, and protect ecosystems through science-based solutions.

Our History.

In 2017, Jérôme Dupras, Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at UQO, Andrew Gonzalez, Professor in the Department of Biology at McGill University, and Christian Messier, Professor of Forest Management and Biodiversity at UQO and UQAM, decided to found Habitat to address the various issues related to the biodiversity crisis and climate change.

By pooling their three areas of expertise, they have developed cutting-edge tools and methods for analyzing natural environments and promoting the implementation of nature-based solutions. These solutions aim to protect nature, manage it sustainably, and restore natural or modified ecosystems.

In the current context of global change, natural environments are facing numerous stress factors. It is becoming essential to promote the conservation and restoration of these natural environments to ensure their sustainability and their provision of essential services to the population.

It is for these reasons thatHabitat created, specializing in the conservation, development, and management of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Today,Habitat professional teamHabitat RCMs, municipalities, public organizations, NPOs, businesses, and financial institutions understand, enhance, and protect the region's natural infrastructure.
