A tailor-made service offering.

“Public and non-profit organizations are key players in biodiversity conservation. They contribute to developing innovative solutions and advancing scientific knowledge related to biodiversity issues.”

Habitat supports public agencies and non-profit organizations in developing action plans and implementing forward-thinking projects to protect nature. We rely on scientific knowledge to offer customized services.

Our approach.

At a time when the Quebec and Canadian governments have set ambitious targets for protecting 30% of their territory by 2030, finding a balance between different land uses is more important than ever. Habitat's scientific expertise is ideally suited to help public organisations meet these challenges.

Habitat helps non-profit organizations specializing in conservation and environmental protection obtain scientific data and analysis relevant to the biodiversity and climate issues at the heart of their missions. We aim to maximize and sustain the impact of your actions.

From prioritizing land conservation to implementing nature-based solutions, discover how Habitat can help you understand and protect your land through innovative action plans and projects.

Public projects completed.

CIRANO - Eco-taxation as a lever for conservation

Commissioned by CIRANO, we studied the feasibility of deploying two eco-taxation tools based on the ecological footprint of land use with a view to protecting biodiversity and, more specifically, the critical habitats of certain species at risk in the St. Lawrence Lowlands region.

Environment Canada - Afforestation potential of agricultural corridors

Agricultural corridors are uncultivated areas located between a watercourse and an agricultural environment, where the slope makes farming impracticable. As part of this project, we modeled the ecosystem services and ecological connectivity benefits of reforesting the agricultural corridors identified in the target region.

Parks Canada - Supporting the conservation management of La Mauricie Park

We assessed ecological connectivity at the scale of La Mauricie National Park's Greater Ecosystem, and produced a portrait of the resilience of its forest stands. The results of this project are intended as a decision-making tool to guide conservation management in La Mauricie National Park.
