Job Summary

The intern will support the project implementation teams in the roles of project manager and data analyst. Habitat to offering diverse internships to provide an enriching and educational work experience, allowing interns to discover various aspects of professional practice in environmental consulting services, particularly in climate resilience, urban forestry, biodiversity monitoring, and ecosystem services assessment.

Under the supervision of experienced professionals, the intern will participate in the following activities:

• Participation in the analysis and validation of environmental data

• Creation of maps (QGIS) and tables for reports

• Assistance with the preparation of technical reports and project documents (greening plans, climate plans, biodiversity consulting for businesses, etc.)

• Assisting project managers with planning and monitoring projects

• Field data collection (inventories, surveys, observations), which may involve travel to various locations in Quebec

• Assisting with various tasks necessary to support project implementation teams

The tasks assigned during the internship may vary depending on the projects and assignments underway at the time the internship begins.

JOB PROFILE AND HIRING CRITERIA
Requirements

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken French

  • Be a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen

  • Be able to work from Montreal

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Independence, organizational skills, and flexibility

  • Ability to work both in the office and in the field

  • Must be present in the office 3 days a week, except during weeks that include fieldwork; option to work from home 2 days a week.

  • The applicant must meet the eligibility criteria for applicable government grant programs, if any.

    Strengths

  • Class 5 driver's license

Working conditions

Salary: $22/hour
Full-time: 35 hours per week – with the option to work the 35-hour week from Monday to Thursday, starting June 24
Time off: two statutory holidays in June and July + 2 sick/personal days for the duration of the internship
Hybrid work model (remote / office / field)
Computer and field equipment provided by Habitat
