Job Summary

As part of its growth, Habitat seekinga data analyst to join its projects department. Under the supervision of the team leaders, the successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of projects with a significant environmental impact and will actively participate in the company’s mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Data Analysis and Management

- Collect, organize, and manage geospatial data from clients, employees, and existing databases.

- Perform the analyses required for projects by applying the current tools, scripts, and methods.

- Ensure the quality of data and results, as well as their management, archiving, and confidentiality.

2. Project Support

- Work with project managers to carry out client projects.

- Help select analytical methods and interpret the results.

- Participate in project meetings and help draft sections of reports.

3. Development of Tools and Methodologies

- Use and develop analytical tools, particularly in the areas of land-use planning and multi-criteria prioritization.

- Program and customize scripts, libraries, and workflows as needed.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement ofHabitat tools and methods.

4. Communication and Documentation

- Create maps, tables, charts, and other visual aids.

- Communicate the results in a clear and accessible manner while maintaining scientific rigor.

- Document analyses and scripts to ensure their reproducibility and transferability.

JOB PROFILE AND HIRING CRITERIA
Requirements

- Master's degree in biology, ecology, forestry, or geography

- Advanced programming skills in R

- Skills in geomatics analysis and database management

- Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines

- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team

- Excellent written communication skills (French) and verbal communication skills (French and English)

  • Strengths

    - Knowledge of modeling tools for assessing ecosystem services (e.g., Invest)

    - Ability to solve new problems and find creative solutions

    - Critical thinking

    - Basic knowledge of Python, Julia, SQL, and DuckDB

Working conditions

Salary: based on the current pay scale
Permanent, full-time position: 35 hours per week—with the option to work the 35-hour week from Monday through Thursday, starting June 24
Salary based on the current pay scale for a 35-hour workweek
Desired start date: Summer 2026
Hybrid work arrangement: remote work and the Mile-End office
Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada
