Let's join forces to protect 30% of the Earth's ecosystems by 2030!

Habitat is proud to have received $400,000 in funding from the Government of Quebec to help achieve the 30x30 goal. In partnership with Stanford University and the University of Minnesota ( Natural Capital Project collaborators), the project aims to model the economic and environmental impacts of the Global Biodiversity Framework's key targets and to propose concrete solutions for achieving the protection goals.

The final objective is to formulate recommendations for policy-makers on the desirability and investment costs of alternative conservation scenarios to achieve the 30x30 target of the Global Framework for Biodiversity at the scale of Quebec and California. The recommendations will be accompanied by an interactive online platform exploring the ecological impacts and economic outcomes of conservation scenarios.

By integrating the best knowledge on biodiversity conservation and economic valuation of ecosystem services, the project will improve the state of biodiversity and human well-being by motivating greater and more cost-effective investments in both! 🌱

Habitat is pleased to be able to join its expertise with that of its partners in the Natural Capital Project to implement this innovative initiative that aims to integrate the best knowledge of biodiversity conservation and economic valuation of ecosystems to achieve the 30x30 goal. This project demonstrates a commitment to leadership in the fight against biodiversity loss.
